Easy batter pastry

 



Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 10 - 15 minutes

Serves: Makes 1 medium dish

Use this soft dough over any ingredients for making a pie topping.

Ingredients

250ml (140 g) Snowflake self-raising flour

5ml Snowflake baking powder

2ml salt

125ml milk

125ml cooking oil

1  extra-large egg

Method

  • Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
  • Whisk egg, milk and oil together. Add to dry ingredients and beat lightly to a smooth, runny dough. Add more milk if required to ensure runny dough. Spoon pastry over any meat or other savoury filling.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for 10 - 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
